Glossary
Ever wondered about the difference between critical whiteness and white supremacy? What is intersectionality, or what does institutional racism truly mean? Our glossary answers these with 23 key terms on racism and discrimination, drawn from the German game Antidiskriminierung, Rassismuskritik und Diversität.
These concise explanations unpack phenomena and concepts behind racial behaviors and structures, sparking critical reflection on personal biases. In our 4-day blended train-the-trainer course, it builds facilitators’ skills; for game workshop participants, it’s handy extra reading to deepen understanding.
Debriefing Methods
After role-playing discriminatory scenarios in Participa City, debriefing turns experiences into insights. It makes racial behaviors visible and tangible, letting players share feelings, draw conclusions, brainstorm new actions for characters, and link game moments to real life.
Partners have shared a rich list of proven methods—we’ll select at least five top ones for the trainer manual. Trainers can pick what fits their group. Stay tuned to this page; we’ll share them soon!
Critical Incident Story Cards
These cards bring Participa City to life with fictionalized stories based on real experiences of racism across Europe—from Germany, Sweden, France, Bulgaria, and Portugal. Color-coded by sectors, each deck includes:
- story cards (with “Did you know?” facts on the back),
- sector action cards (recommendations for organizations),
- survivor action cards (tips for those affected),
- everybody cards (bystander intervention steps).
Use them in trainings, workshops, or team meetings. With them, facilitators can guide discussions to connect incidents to actions, building empathy, awareness, and practical anti-racism skills.
