National Analyses Completed: A Major Milestone for Participa City

We’re excited to announce a significant achievement in the European Participa City partnership! Our collaborative efforts have brought us closer to understanding how racism and discrimination manifest at the national level—and, more importantly, what stands in the way of greater participation for ethnic and cultural minorities.

Digging deep:

Over the past few months, all partner organizations have been hard at work. Through a joint survey and in-depth interviews with key voices in the field, we’ve gathered valuable data and personal stories. While the data is non-representative, it offers a powerful snapshot of national contexts and the unique challenges faced in combating discrimination at every level of society.

Our analysis has shed light on:

  • Who is affected: Identifying the main groups facing racism and discrimination in each country.
  • Where it happens: Pinpointing the sectors and stakeholders involved.
  • What stands in the way: Uncovering structural barriers that hinder participation.

We’ve also documented “critical incidents”—real situations where individuals felt they experienced discrimination based on their ethnic or cultural background. These stories are now part of a new transnational database, which will help us develop realistic game scenarios and targeted recommendations for action.

What’s next?
All these findings will be brought together in a comprehensive transnational report. This report will not only highlight the challenges our communities face but also offer practical insights and potential interventions to help prevent racism and discrimination across the Participa City partner countries.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue working together for a more inclusive Europe!
