Transnational Analysis Report
The Participa City Transnational Analysis Report explores how racism and discrimination affect ethnic and cultural minorities in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Portugal and Sweden. Based on surveys, interviews and critical incidents, it examines experiences of discrimination across areas such as education, employment, housing, public services, policing and justice, and healthcare.
By comparing findings across the five countries, the report identifies common patterns as well as national differences. Its findings provide an evidence base for the Participa City simulation game and training approach, helping to identify priority areas for prevention and competence development while recognising the need for context-specific approaches.
Participa City Cards – Stories that open up perspectives
The Participa City Cards are based on real-life experiences of discrimination collected through Critical Incident research in Germany, Sweden, France, Bulgaria and Portugal. These experiences have been fictionalised and adapted into stories for use in learning and training settings.
The cards invite participants to explore discrimination from different perspectives, reflect on individual and structural factors, and consider possible responses and actions. They can be used in workshops, training sessions, team meetings and professional networks to encourage dialogue, critical reflection and practical approaches to creating more inclusive environments.
The set includes Story Cards, which present incidents of discrimination, as well as Sector Action Cards, Survivor Action Cards and Everybody Cards, which explore possible actions by organisations, professionals, affected persons and others.
Participa City Policy Paper
The Participa City Policy Paper brings together perspectives gathered through dialogues with policy-makers across the project’s partner countries. The discussions explored challenges related to racism and discrimination, existing policies and practices, and ways to strengthen equal participation and inclusion at local, regional and national levels.
The paper highlights common challenges, needs and possible areas for action while recognising differences between national and local contexts. It aims to support continued dialogue and cooperation between policy-makers, public institutions, organisations and practitioners working to prevent discrimination and promote more inclusive societies.
