On 1 July 2026, more than 60 participants from Bulgaria and Europe gathered for the Participa City transnational multiplier event. The event brought together educators, teachers, adult education and training providers, experts and other professionals working in the fields of education, social inclusion, diversity and participation. The participants from different parts of Bulgaria were joined by international guests from Germany and the representatives of the Participa City partnership.
The first part of the event focused on inclusion, participation and equal opportunities in Europe. The participants exchanged experiences and explored educational approaches for preventing discrimination, promoting diversity and strengthening social inclusion. The discussions on the educational practices addressing the prevention of racism and discrimination and the empowerment of vulnerable and minority communities were also presented.
The transnational part of the event introduced participants to the Participa City partnership and the development of the European Participa City simulation game, building on the original German prototype. A key part of the event was the opportunity for participants to experience the simulation role-play game themselves through interactive workshops. The participants had the opportunity to take different roles and experience the newly developed European scenarios engaged in discussions around racism, discrimination, inclusion and participation, while reflecting on different perspectives and possible responses to challenging situations.
The interactive workshops also created space for participants to share international experiences and perspectives, discuss how discrimination and exclusion can be addressed in different contexts, and explore how the game can support learning and dialogue. The educators and other stakeholders discussed the potential use of Participa City in educational, training and community settings, as well as with decision-makers and other key actors. The event concluded with a joint exchange of key conclusions and experiences from the group sessions, followed by networking between Bulgarian and international participants.
The multiplier event provided an important opportunity to present the results of the Participa City project, test and discuss the European game with practitioners and stakeholders and strengthen cooperation around inclusive, non-discriminatory and participatory education in Bulgaria and across Europe.
